A Metrolink train headed for San Bernardino hit a Union Pacific truck located on or near the tracks. The Metrolink accident killed the Union Pacific employee upon impact with the train. Several Metrolink riders bound for San Bernardino were also hurt in the train accident.

The cause of the accident is unclear and it is not known why the truck and the employee were located on the tracks at the time of the Metrolink train accident.
