2 California Highway Patrol Officers had stopped on Interstate 10 to help a motorist that had spun out on the interstate due to heavy rains. While waiting in their patrol car for a tow truck to arrive the officers vehicle was hit from behind by a driver suspected of Driving Under the Influence or DUI. The patrol car was thrown into the vehicle they had stopped to help. The officers were taken to John F. Kennedy Medical Center in Indio after suffering minor injuries.
